Collards:
Collard greens are earthy and slightly bitter when raw, but once cooked they mellow out and become tender and savory. They can be eaten raw in salads or slaws, though they’re usually cooked to soften their texture and flavor. Collards are super versatile and work well in soups, stews, casseroles, omelets, pasta, or braised dishes. Their earthy, vegetal flavor pairs well with acidic, salty, and sweet ingredients. You can also check out this website for even more creative ways to use your collards!
Nantes Carrots:
Our Nantes carrots are sweet, tender, and pulled young by hand for the best flavor. These French heirlooms have smooth skin and a crisp bite, way better than the woody carrots you find at the store. Enjoy them raw with hummus, sliced into salads, or roasted to bring out their natural sweetness. They’re also great for juicing! Store in the fridge (without the greens) and use within a couple of weeks for the freshest taste.
Leeks:
Leeks have a mild, slightly sweet flavor that’s way more delicate than onions or garlic. The entire thing is edible, though the white and light green portions are the most tender and flavorful. Once cooked, leeks turn soft and silky. They bring a mellow, savory sweetness to dishes without being too overpowering. They’re perfect for soups, stews, braises, and broths. Leeks really shine in classics like potato leek soup, quiches, sautés, and stir-fries. These leeks are ideal for roasting or grilling. Their mildness also makes them an excellent choice for raw preparations like salads.
Gold Nugget Mandarins:
Get your mandarins while you can! Gold Nugget mandarins are sweet, juicy, and easy to peel! Packed with flavor, they’re perfect for snacking or adding a bright citrus kick to any dish. They come from Gold Oak Ranch, a farm built on a 20-year partnership between Jose Luis Melendez and David Scheuring.
Napa Cabbage:
Napa cabbage is the frillier, lighter cousin of the common green cabbage. Its tender, pale leaves have a mild, slightly sweet flavor and a satisfying crunch. Perfect for everything from crisp salads to stir-fries! Enjoy it raw or shredded into slaws, where its ruffled leaves add both texture and freshness. You can also sauté it with a little oil, salt, and pepper until it turns silky and subtly sweet. Napa cabbage shines in soups, stews, noodle dishes, and of course, in kimchi.
Acorn Squash:
Acorn squash has a mild, nutty, and lightly sweet almost corn-like. making it an excellent canvas for both savory and sweet seasonings. When roasted or baked, the flesh becomes creamy and smooth with a rich, earthy character that pairs well with ingredients like maple syrup, cinnamon, garlic, and fresh herbs. Thanks to its naturally large seed cavity, acorn squash is perfect for stuffing. Fill it with quinoa, grains, seasonal vegetables, or even meats for a hearty and healthy main course. It also makes a great addition to soups, sides, and breads. And don’t toss those seeds! You can roast them for a healthy snack or a fun little appetizer to pair with wine, beer, or cocktails.
Broccoli:
Broccoli with the greens! The entire plant is edible, including the stalks and leaves. Broccoli has a crisp texture when raw and becomes tender when cooked, with a flavor that is slightly bitter and earthy, yet mild and nutty. Perfect for roasting, sautéing, baking, or simply steaming. Broccoli makes a delicious, nutrient-dense addition to any raw veggie platter and doubles as a cozy, roasted side when tossed with herbs and a splash of olive oil! The outside caramelizes just a bit and the core is still crunchy if you nail it right.
